You can't throw a party without food. Whether you decide to open a bag of chips and a case of beer for a few friends, or you go for a formal catered and served dinner, you will need to consider food for your casino party.
For your party you can go with anything from light hors d’oeuvres and drinks to a formal sit down dinner. Your options are nearly limitless. They key is to ask yourself a few questions before you get started:
What is your budget? Casino parties can be expensive to host –but they are worth it! However, if you need to keep on a tight budget, food is a great place to cut back. Just serve light food, coffee and drinks. If you are having close friends over you can ask them to brink their favorite dish to pass, or favorite bottle of wine. Insider’s Party Tip: Invite your guests to arrive at 8 or 9pm after they would have eaten dinner and serve a dessert buffet soon after they arrive. They will love sampling all of the desserts AND you save money on food!
How many guests will there be? The number of guests you will have will help determine your food options. For example, if you are having 25 guests, a formal sit down dinner in your home may be difficult if you don't have the space, but grazing stations or passed hors d’oeuvres may be perfect.
What is the theme of your casino party? Are you having a 007 James Bond party? – Then martinis are definetly on the menu! (Shaken of course!) Is the event black tie? Then think fancy foods and desserts, including servers. Are you having an “Old West” party? –Then bring out the salsa and chips! Don’t be afraid to barbeque some chicken or ribs or make western style kabobs.
